Epsom Downs is the open chalk downland above the town, famous as the home of the Derby. Around its edges are the residential roads of the Downs, the village of Langley Vale and the area around Tattenham Corner. Outside race days it is a quiet, green place to live, and our Epsom Downs taxis collect from every address in the area at a fixed price.

Race days on the Downs
On race days, especially the Derby Festival in early June, the roads across the Downs close or get very busy, and traffic is managed by the course and the police. If you live on the Downs and need a car on a race day, book early and allow extra time. The driver may need to meet you at an agreed point rather than at your door. For racegoers, see our Epsom Downs Racecourse taxis page.
Langley Vale Wood
Langley Vale Wood, created by the Woodland Trust as a First World War centenary wood, has become a popular place for walks. If you are visiting from further away and do not want to drive, we can drop you off and collect you later.
Stations
Epsom Downs station, at the Banstead end of the Downs, and Tattenham Corner station, at the southern edge, both have trains to London. Epsom station in the town centre has the most frequent services. We can drop you at any of them.
Airport runs from the Downs
For Gatwick, the A217 from Burgh Heath takes you straight to the M25 at Reigate Hill. For Heathrow, the driver usually goes through Epsom or Langley Vale to the M25 at Leatherhead. See Epsom Downs to Gatwick and Epsom Downs to Heathrow.
