The route south

From Ewell, the driver takes Reigate Road (the A240) south past NESCOT and on to the A217 at Burgh Heath. The A217 drops down Reigate Hill to junction 8 of the M25. Two junctions east, at junction 7, the M23 heads south to the airport. It is a simple, predictable drive, and the main pinch point is Burgh Heath at school times.

Train or taxi from Ewell?

By train from Ewell East you would normally change at Sutton or travel up to London and back down again, and the walk from Gatwick station to the North Terminal adds a shuttle ride. For one person with a small bag, that is fine. For a family with suitcases, the fixed fare from your door is usually close to the combined rail fares, and much simpler.

North or South Terminal

North Terminal

The larger of the two, with its own drop-off area.

South Terminal

Next to Gatwick railway station.

Flying back into Gatwick

Add your flight number to the return booking. The driver tracks your flight, waits in arrivals with a name board and takes you home to Ewell. Book both ways now and the way back is 5% cheaper.

Leaving Ewell early

Many Gatwick flights depart between 6am and 8am, which means leaving Ewell before 5am. At that time of day the A240 and A217 are almost empty, and the drive is quick. Book at least a day ahead for very early pickups, and put your phone number on the booking so the driver can let you know when they are outside.

Students at NESCOT and the University for the Creative Arts

International students at NESCOT in Ewell and UCA in Epsom often fly from Gatwick at the start and end of term. A taxi takes all your luggage in one trip from your accommodation, with no struggle on the train. Choose an estate for extra luggage space.
