Epsom to Portsmouth port taxi

Fixed fare from £139 · 61 miles · about 1 hr 10 min

Portsmouth International Port handles ferries to France, Spain and the Channel Islands, and a growing number of cruise ships. For foot passengers from Epsom, a taxi is by far the simplest way to get there: you are dropped at the terminal building with your luggage, without a train to Portsmouth Harbour and a transfer across the city.

A saloon from central Epsom costs from £139, fixed at booking. The journey is around 61 miles and usually takes 1 hr 10 min.

The A3 route

Portsmouth is one of the few long trips from Epsom where the driver does not use the M25. The usual route runs from Epsom through Leatherhead and Cobham to the A3, past Guildford, through the Hindhead Tunnel and down the A3(M) to the city. The port is at the northern end of the city, on the M275 approach, so you avoid central Portsmouth.

Foot passengers on ferries

Ferry check-in for foot passengers usually closes well before departure, so check the time on your ticket. We aim to arrive with plenty of time. For early-morning sailings, we can pick you up in Epsom in the middle of the night.

Cruises from Portsmouth

Cruise ships calling at Portsmouth use the same international port terminal. Tell us the ship and the sailing date when you book, and we plan the pickup around your check-in time. For the return, we meet you outside the terminal when you disembark. Book both ways at once and the return is 5% cheaper.

Luggage and passengers

If you are taking bikes, extra luggage or a lot of holiday kit, tell us in the booking notes. Our estates and MPVs have much more room than a saloon. The booking form shows the luggage space for each vehicle.

Isle of Wight ferries

Portsmouth is also the main crossing point for the Isle of Wight. Wightlink sails from its terminal at Gunwharf, near Portsmouth Harbour station, and the Hovertravel hovercraft leaves from Southsea seafront. These are separate from the international port, so tell us which crossing you are taking and the driver will drop you at the right place.
